Sapne Aam Aadmi ke- the Yuva Ekta Nukkad Naatak 2010 was staged in front of a vast audience at Dilli Haat on 19th June. The energy of the students, their enthusiasm and vigour and their brilliant performances despite the scorching June heat was remarkable! Almost a month of continuous and rigorous workshops, involving all sorts of theater exercises and group work went into the making of ‘Sapne Aam Aadmi ke”! The result was a spellbinding and touching street play performed by the students of Salaam Baalak Trust, Bluebells School International and St Mary’s School.
The audience was thoroughly touched by the themes the play managed to cover- hunger, female foeticide, differentiation based on gender and class, child mortality due to preventable diseases and many more. For a group comprising of children less than 17 years of age, these themes were very intense and involved a lot of delving into very deep emotional experiences. With the help of our previous years’ Yuva Ekta students, who also helped facilitate the workshops , the group managed to script and enact these characters with a lot of truth!
